Analytics & AI

Analytics features help you understand what your device data means, predict future values, and ask questions in plain language. Available on the Business plan and above.

Open any device in your dashboard and click the Insights tab. If you are on a Business plan or higher with analytics enabled, the tab loads automatically.

The platform monitors your telemetry data for unusual patterns. When a reading deviates significantly from normal behavior, it gets flagged as an anomaly.

Anomaly types:

When an external AI provider is configured (via your personal key or the platform default), each anomaly includes a brief AI-generated explanation describing what caused it and any correlations with other fields.

Anomalies appear:

  • In the Anomaly Timeline on the Insights tab (with optional AI explanations)
  • As amber badges on the dashboard device list
  • In your weekly digest email (if enabled)
  • Info - Mild deviation, worth noting
  • Warning - Significant deviation, may need attention
  • Critical - Major deviation, likely requires action

The platform generates forecasts for each numeric field using your historical data. Forecasts show predicted values for the next 24 hours and 7 days, with confidence intervals.

The forecast chart displays:

  • Predicted values (solid line)
  • 80% confidence band (darker shaded area)
  • 95% confidence band (lighter shaded area)

Forecasts are recalculated every 6 hours using your most recent data.

Ask questions about your device data in plain language. The AI analyzes your telemetry database and responds with answers backed by actual data.

Example questions:

  • “What was the peak temperature yesterday?”
  • “How many times did humidity drop below 40% this week?”
  • “What is the average power consumption per hour?”
  • “Are there any unusual patterns in the last 3 days?”

Your query count resets on the 1st of each month. The current count is shown below the Ask AI input.

You can configure your own AI API key in Settings > AI Provider to choose your preferred model. Supported providers:

  • Gemini (Google) - Flash (fast, cost-effective) and Pro
  • Claude (Anthropic) - Sonnet and Haiku
  • OpenAI - GPT-4o and GPT-4o Mini
  • Custom - Any OpenAI-compatible API endpoint

Your personal key takes priority over the platform default. If no key is configured, the platform uses Gemini Flash.

When Ask AI returns data that can be visualized, it automatically detects the best chart type and displays it inline:

  • Line chart - when results include timestamps and numeric values
  • Bar chart - when results include categories and numeric values
  • Scatter plot - when results include two or more numeric columns

This happens automatically with zero extra cost - the chart detection is rule-based, not AI-powered.

Each numeric field shows trend data:

When enabled, you receive a weekly email summary every Monday with:

  • Device status overview (online/total)
  • Data points collected in the last 7 days
  • Alerts triggered
  • Anomalies detected
  • Top 5 most active devices

Enable digests in Settings > Notifications > Weekly Digest.
